INDUSTRY INSIGHTS: FASCINATING FIGURES

Love it or hate it, we take our hats (or should I say fascinators) off, to the Melbourne fashion retail industry who achieve an incredible feat every Spring Racing season, with some flipping their visual merchandising from monochrome to colour overnight.

In 2019, 325,000 people attended the races at Flemington with 35% coming from outside Victoria. And boy do they love to dress up and party!

They bought

55,421 pairs of shoes

49,559 dresses

55,433 hats and fascinators

And enjoyed 275,000 glasses of Mumm champagne!

You just have to take a walk up Armadale High St to see how retailers showcase ways they can help outfit customers for the races.

Most windows have mannequins in black and white ready for Derby Day on 29th of October and then make the overnight switch to colour for Melbourne Cup on the 1st of November.

When we know that 3 in every 10 customers walk into the store just because of how it looks from the outside, we love how they make it easy for customers to find what they need.
